Hisayo Kushida is a film editor fluent in both English and Japanese, with more than 20 years of experience in film and documentary editing.

Her documentary editing career gained momentum with the multiple award-winning feature documentary The Great Happiness Space: Tale of an Osaka Love Thief, directed by Jake Clennell. The film received the Best Documentary Feature award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and earned nominations for an IDA Award, an IFP Gotham Award, and a British Independent Film Award.

She went on to edit East of Main Street: Apl.de.Ap, part of HBO's acclaimed short documentary series celebrating Asian American heritage, directed by Jon Yi. In 2010, she received a New York Emmy Award for her editing work on Doing Business in China, a documentary series featuring James Fallows and presented by The Atlantic.

Her most recent feature documentary editing credit, Ryuichi Sakamoto: CODA, directed by Stephen Schible, premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and had successful theatrical releases domestically and internationally.

Hisayo is currently based in West Hollywood, Los Angeles.
